Nearly every fanatics of Halloween and Halloween 2 did not rush to see Halloween 3 in 1982. The point is, of course, since Myers did not appear, as in prior flicks.

When executive producers John Carpenter and Debra Hill set out to make Halloween 3, they envisioned it as the start of a series in which a new Halloween movie would be released each year around Halloween. It was a good concept, and I wish they would have had the chance to develop it further. It was not to be, unfortunately.

During the days leading up to Halloween, Dr. Daniel Challis (Tom Atkins) finds himself at the center of a peculiar murder case when an elderly patient in his care is found dead.

Along with Ellie, the dead guy's daughter, Dr. Challis heads to the little California town of Santa Mira, where Silver Shamrock is located, where they manufacture the most popular Halloween masks. Thanks to their intensive marketing campaign, Silver Shamrock has sold millions of masks across the nation.

(The Silver Shamrock facility was based on a real-life milk factory, as is well-known in the industry.)

Dr. Challis and Ellie have also told the youngsters that they should watch a special Halloween night show while still dressed up. However, when they investigate more, they discover that Conal Cochran (Dan O'Herlihy), the CEO of Silver Shamrock, is planning something that would result in the deaths of tens of thousands, if not millions, of innocent people.

No matter how dissimilar it is from previous Halloween films, it is still a good time. Dr. Loomis, Laurie and Michael don't appear in this film in any way other than a few brief glimpses in which the original Halloween is shown on tv.

The film isn't flawless (it's unclear whether the reference to Stonehenge was intentional or not), but it contains several memorable scenes, the best of which is a scene in which Cochran puts his nefarious scheme to the test on Buddy Kupfer (Ralph Strait), a salesperson who was given a personal tour of the production facility because he sold so several masks.

Conal Cochran is locked in a cramped room with Buddy and Little Buddy, who is Buddy's kid. When the boy came inside, he immediately put on his mask and began watching the show that was supposed to air on Halloween night. Things immediately spiral out of control, and the subsequent carnage will be something that you will not be able to forget in a hurry. In addition to this, Mr. Cochran provides an educational segment in which he outlines the real background of Halloween.

I've come to like the Halloween franchise, particularly the films that followed Halloween 3: Season of the Witch and starred Michael Myers. However, I cannot help but wonder whether John read more Carpenter and Debra Hill got the opportunity to complete the series according to their initial intention.

Halloween 3's lack of enthusiasm is all the fault of the audience. I think the film's failure may be attributed to the fact that it was marketed as a sequel to the first Halloween movie.

Even though it is finished now, the fact that I enjoy Halloween III: Season of the Witch makes it a little bit more difficult for me to accept that John Carpenter's plan was unsuccessful.

Tommy Lee Wallace directed the movie.

The event features prominent figures such as Tom Atkins, Dan O'Herlihy, and Stacey Nelkin.
